- Try finding or buying (from an
other player) a shield emanator artifact. It will greatly enhance your shields
resistance. Maybe just the extra punch you need in battle.
- Rockets and the beam of a
graviton beam can fire trough a star. So what you'll say. This could make the
difference because you can keep the star between you and your prey. The star
will serve as a protection. And while the enemy is trying to fly around the star
to hit you, you'll just fire your negotiators, nukes or vulture missiles right
trough the star.
- Did you know you can use Flak
Cannons and laser cannons as an offensive weapon in space? During combat plant them near starports
so the enemy ( or victim ;-] ) can't enter the starport to reload shields
without being damaged. Or you can plant flak near gravity fields like stars.
Dirty but it works.
- Don't be afraid to retreat to
place yourself in a better position. Leaving a system in a fight is not running
scared, it's just basic intelligence if you are in trouble. A system can be very
different and the kind can be decisive in a fight. For example the numbers of
planets can have a negative effect for heavy and slow ships when they are
fighting fast ships.
- Don't underestimate the level of
dexterity you give yourself when you create a character, in the beginning of a
game. It decides how quick you can turn in battle and it's really importand to
turn quick. That way you can even evade the best weapons.
